Project

Super User Studio was initially commissioned by Channel 4 for a strategic piece of work to support the channel in the realisation of an innovative, new proposition for Film4.com. In three separate touch points with users, we gathered the insight needed to inform the creation of personas and generate greater awareness around user behaviours and preferences, including how they wish to interact with the brand. These interactions were balanced with business requirements to create a proposed new structure for the website across desktop, mobile and connected TV platforms, which we depicted in a series of conceptual architecture diagrams. This extensive process culminated in the prototyping and testing of the proposition.

Following the development of the new proposition, we were re-engaged to deliver the user-centred redesign and relaunch of the new Film4.com experience. This involved working closely with the Film4 product team, Channel 4 designers and the product development team to bring together the websites for film rental, Film4 Productions and the Film4 channel into one comprehensive online film experience. This involved the design of cross platform taskflows to enable users to remain connected to Film4 in one seamless digital experience and to take advantage of two screen activity. Another key part of the project involved bringing the edgy and iconic Film4 TV channel branding into the digital realm. We had to push the boundaries of conventional web design in order to reflect the nature of this distinctive brand through the digital experience. Finally, the experience included an innovative tool to support the discovery of new films.

Reinforcing their position as film editor of choice, the new Film4.com website was nominated for a Broadcast Digital Award.
